Hoylake Veterinary Surgery was started in September 2003, yes that means we are 20 years old this, by Rob and Della McNulty in a small shop next to Sainsbury’s in Hoylake. Through hard work and good reputation, we quickly outgrew our original location prompting our move to our current beautiful old building.
We are situated in a house called Geneva which was built in 1905 by Mr Bertram. The premises retains many of its original features in windows and columns and it offers a large parking area.
The surgery currently offers digital X-Ray, ECG, Endoscopy, In House Blood machines and Sedivue Urinalysis, Laproscopic Spays, kennelling for patients, Ultrasound and emergency treatment during opening hours.
Our highly trained team boasts a certificate holder in Veterinary Anaesthesia, a certificate holder in Exotic Animal Practice, a Certificate holder in Veterinary Practice Management and Administration, one of our team is studying towards their small animal imaging certificate, a masters degree holder as well as over 100 years of Veterinary Experience between us.
We are also a Veterinary Nurse Training Practice and offer EMS for Veterinary Students from a number of different Universities.
We offer your pets a rapid diagnostic and treatment service.
Our exotics staff is able to see rabbits, guinea pigs, other small furries, lizards, snakes, tortoises, turtles, chinchillas, ferrets and birds. If your pet is not listed please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Rob has built Hoylake Vets which started in a small shop front in Hoylake in September 2003 and moved the big house in December 2007.
Rob has been a Farm Vet and an Equine Vet.
He has lectured for British Equine Events and Equine Vet Nurse courses.
He has also lectured for Liverpool University on Exotics and given talks to Wirral and Cheshire Fostering Services
He is the Dangerous Dog Advisor for Wirral Solicitors and the Dangerous Dog Vet for Liverpool Serious Case Review.
At Hoylake he is a first opinion Vet for Small Animals and Exotics and has a Certificate in both Exotic Animal Practice and Anaesthesia.
He likes to run, climb, swim both open water and pool, cycle, snowboard and walk his dog.
He currently has 3 cats and one dog.
A fun fact about Rob is that he came up with the Interferon idea to treat baby elephants with herpes virus.

Della helped Rob build the business from it’s small beginnings in Hoylake to now working from Geneva on Birkenhead Road. Della project managed the conversion of the big house from 3 flats to a fully functioning Veterinary Practice and then adding a purpose built operating theatre in 2009.
Della was originally a Primary School Teacher specialising in Years 1 to 4 and teaching Science to Primary School Children.
Prior to teaching Della also worked in an Old People’s Home, a Coffee Shop, was a Playschool Leader and also a Barmaid.
Della works as the Practice Manager hopefully making everything run as smoothly as possible and also covers all the other jobs in the Practice except for Vet if other members of the team are sick or on holiday. She is a jack of all trades master of none!
She likes reading and listening to music in her spare time. Also crystals, tarot and ghost hunting. She likes travelling especially to Chamonix where she can indulge her passions of walking in the mountains and photography.
Della has 3 sons and 1 daughter, 2 nephews and a niece and 1 grandaughter.
An American Bulldog called Luna (short for Lunatic) 3 cats called Bonta Kun, Fluffy and Cinnamon and a Terrapin called Big Al all of whom are rescues from Friends of Birkenhead Kennels and Heswall Animal Welfare.
A fun fact about Della is she has a Masters degree in Palaeoanthropology and she would love to do a PhD.

Ellie joined the Practice as our Head Vet Nurse in June 2011.
Before Ellie joined us she was an Orthopaedic Surgical Nurse at Rutland House Referrals and also worked a an Equine Veterinary Nurse.
Ellie’s job as Head Nurse involves liaising with Rob and Della to ensure the smooth running of the Practice. Managing the nurses who work at the practice and sorts the ordering of products the Practice needs to work well.
Ellie spends her spare time playing with ponies with her daughter.
She has an 8 year old daughter and a 4 year old Black Labrador called Millie.

Jess works as a Vet in the Practice giving first opinion care to all the small animals and exotics that come to us.
Jess does Musical Theatre and has recently starred as Cinderalla in Shrek, she is an amazing baker and enjoys running.
Jess lives with her partner Harry and Bruce the Jack Russell Terrier aka brucebeangreen/grumblesnout/Brucepetit the finest bruce you will ever meet.

Ryan deals with all the IT issues within the Practice and also with the maintenance of the building and everything in it.

In his spare time Ryan is heavily involved with Scouting as a Beaver Leader and likes to do Archery with the Neston Company of Archers.

She has previously worked for the last 8 years as a VCA (Veterinary Care Assistant) at Chestergates and North West Vets Specialists.
Zoe works as a Student Vet Nurse as assists our nurses with all the jobs helping the animals that come in for surgeries and for Consultations as well as all the study that is involved in gaining her qualification.
In her spare time (?!) Zoe has 2 horses and likes to go riding with her daughter and they have a VW Campervan and they love to go on adventures around the UK and beyond.
