Welcome to Hoylake Veterinary Surgery’s virtual walk around. This is to give you an idea of what the practice is like and to show you behind the scenes where normally only the staff get to see.
Now the logical place to start is the entrance, the doors are an original part of the building as was the fish on the door.
Be careful as you open the doors as they can be heavy. That is a good thing as the wind can get quite high here in Hoylake.
Once you come into the practice the first thing you see is the reception desk, so there is no chance of getting lost.
If you have any enquiries our staff will be glad to help.
This is also the place to come to collect medications or flea and worm treatments.
From here you enter our waiting room where we display most of our seasonal offers and information.
Also we have notice boards for local businesses and animal related information.
There is also a section for lost and found animals.
We also have a wide screen television with the vet channel on it.
After a brief wait, you will go through to one of our three fully equipped consulting rooms – where you will be seen by one of our four full time veterinary surgeons.
Then from here we go behind the scenes to the rear of the building where we perform most of the complicated procedures.
The first room you come to is the kennel where we have kennel space for 8 animals. This is also where we perform most of the procedures on animals that don’t sit still with their owners. It is also where we perform dental operations as they are best done separately from any other invasive procedures.
From here you go through to the old theatre which we used to use as the theatre, before we had an extension built to house the surgical facility. Now we use it more as a prep room for the larger theatre, it allows us to clip and clean surgical sites before any major operation, without contaminating the main theatre.
Between here and the main theatre is a small side room that we use as a lab. It gives us the capability to run basic blood tests in house and allows us to get the results that your pet needs faster, to help us to help them quicker. This is also the area we use to clean and sterilise all the surgical instruments that we use during the operations.
Finally we come to our custom built Surgical Facility.
This is where we perform any major surgical procedure. It sees use almost every day for operations such as spays, caesareans and other invasive surgery.
This is also where we have our most advanced anaesthetic machine to allow for better care of our surgical patients.
Since having this built we have been able to expand and can now offer core orthopaedic work, such as external fixators and other services such as endoscopy.
That concludes our virtual walk around – we hope you have found it useful and informative.
