A little seepage of serum isn’t unusual after an abdominal operation. If you see more than a little, then contact your vet.
Luna’s Gets Neutered
Following on from Luna’s last blog about her first season and the fun and games that it brought. Luna has had her spay operation so that she can no longer have puppies.
We have to wait 8 weeks following the end of her season for everything to settle down internally and she was spayed on the first of September. That Monday morning having had no breakfast, (She was not very happy about this I can tell you,) she came into the surgery. She had her pre-med to make her sleepy and then was given the full GA so her ovaries and uterus could be tied off and removed. The whole procedure, carried out by her Dad Rob who took about 50 minutes. Once everything was removed she was stitched up using three rows of stiches. One row was in the muscle layer, one row inside her skin and the last one through her skin.
She was very sleepy for the rest of the day which we all made the most of especially her sister Nancy who was glad of an evening of peace. The photos show Luna when she was asleep after she had reached home and crashed out.
We checked the stiches every day and she had been brilliant at not licking the stiches so we have not had to resort to t-shirts or the cone of shame which we are very happy about.
Luna is not so happy about the lead only exercise and not being allowed to run around so she is counting down the days until three weeks is over and she can stretch her legs. Another milestone in the life of lovely luna passed without too much hassle.
